My days usually do not go as planned, that just comes with the territory. As far as photography goes, last Friday I had planned to find someone to model for me and take some pictures trying to use speedlights because I am really a very bad flash photographer and I need the practice.
I was sitting in my office in the hospital when two little girls walked in, Gracey and Sammantha (I did not know their name at the time) confidently sat in front of me with their feet dangling above the floor. Very seriously Gracey said “My mom says that you are the nice man that is going to take pictures of me at the basketball game”.
I have to confess that I was kind of bewildered because I had no idea what she was talking about but I played along. “So at what time is your game and where is it at?” I asked her and she then confidently told me that the game was at the town’s elementary school and that we needed to hurry because it was going to start in 20 minutes. I said Ok.
I finally was able to figure out that the two little girls were the daughters of one of the ladies that works at the hospital so I told her about my conversation with her kids and agreed to go take some pictures at the game. Lucky for me I had brought my digital camera along because if I had shot the game on film it would have been a disaster.
I quickly found out that I am a better flash photographer than a little league basketball photographer but I had a great time and Gracey was very happy with her pictures. Sammantha her little sister then asked if I could take pictures of her the following day at her soccer game…..
Here are a couple of shots the games. All shot on a Nikon D7100.
